Step 1

Step 2

Let them practise

Look. Write. Check. Write again.

Children look at the word, try writing it from memory, then write it again — with the word read aloud and structured repetition built in.

Step 3

Check as they go

See the correct spelling, compare their attempt and keep going.

After each attempt, they see the correct spelling next to their own writing and decide for themselves whether they've got it — no automatic grading, just a moment to compare and keep going.

Step 4

Ready? Test Me.

Hear the word, spell it from memory, then check.

Think they're ready? Test Me says each word aloud without showing the spelling first, so they can try it from memory before checking their answer.

Step 5

A little more practice where it's needed

Go back over tricky words without starting everything again.

Words that need more work get practised again — no need to repeat the whole list every time.

Step 6

Or build it with letter blocks

Tap the letters in order — no handwriting required.

Prefer tapping to handwriting? Letter blocks use the same Look, Write, Check, Write again structure, but children spell the word by tapping its letters in the right order instead of writing it by hand.
